The Photography Assignment
This architectural photography assignment took us to the five star Le Méridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa, situated on Spain’s beautiful Costa Daurada in Tarragona.
Working under the direction of lead photographer Michelle Chaplow, with the support of talented assistant, Marcos Meider, and stylist Allan James Stuart, our goal was to capture the hotel’s unique architecture in alignment with its corporate brand photography guidelines.
The photoshoot covered a range of scenes, including rooms, architectural features, historical elements, the beachfront Longitude Bar, exterior facades, and detailed shots that encapsulate the hotel’s distinctive character.
Our focus was on the hotel’s refined design, seaside elegance, and serene ambiance. Each shot celebrated the Mediterranean-inspired architecture, the archways, and the fresh interiors that lend a relaxed sophistication to the space. Together, we highlighted the property’s unique charm, emphasizing its harmonious blend of light, texture, and coastal beauty, creating images that reflect the unforgettable experience awaiting each guest.
Le Méridien is an American upscale, design-focused international hotel brand with a European perspective. It was originally founded by Air France in 1972 and now owned by Marriott International.
The Hotel’s History
Le Méridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa is a property steeped in history, adding depth and richness to its ambiance. Originally built in the 1920s as a sanatorium, the building was later transformed into the luxury resort it is today. The hotel retains many of its original architectural features, such as grand arches, open-air corridors, and Mediterranean-inspired lines, all seamlessly integrated into its modern design. These elements pay homage to the property’s past while creating a contemporary oasis that honors both history and elegance. Today, Le Méridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa stands as a landmark along the Spanish coastline, inviting guests to experience a perfect blend of tradition and modern luxury.
What We Loved About the Hotel
One of the most captivating aspects of Le Méridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa is its direct connection to the Mediterranean. From the moment guests step inside, they feel drawn to the sea, just steps away. Guests can walk effortlessly from the hotel’s reception directly onto the beach, fully immersing themselves in the tranquil coastal setting. The dining experience is also exceptional, with an emphasis on seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients that bring the best of Mediterranean cuisine to the table. Every detail, from the relaxed elegance to the attentive service, creates an oasis of luxury and calm—a true coastal gem on the Costa Daurada.
